I’m going to show you today one of the better and easier techniques in my opinion for wrapping your hand for support to ensure that you don’t get any of these fractures and you can keep on boxing:
1. Place your thumb through the loop and pull the roll over your hand.
2. Next, wrap your wrist 3 times.
3. Once you finished wrapping your wrist, take the roll and pull it upwards over the palm of your hand to the base of your index finger before wrapping your knuckles three times.
4. Once you finished wrapping your knuckles, take the roll and pull it downwards over the palm of your hand, around the base of your thumb, and then back up and over the back of your hand, before running it between your pinky and ring finger.
5. Then, wrap it around the base of your index finger and pull it down the back of your hand, so that you’d make it an X pattern wrap.
6. Repeat this process for all of your fingers.
7. Once you finished with this, take the rollback across the bottom of your wrist, wrap it around your thumb, and then pull the wrap all the way around your wrist again in order to lock it in the place.
8. To finish locking it in place, repeat the pattern in the opposite direction.
9. Once this is locked in place you’ve completed the base portion of the wrap.
10. You can use the remainder of the wrap to reinforce your knuckles and wrist as necessary. The number of times you will be able to wrap your wrist and your knuckles is going to depend entirely on the size of your hand.
11. One thing I like to do though, is taking the roll and pull it over the base of my wrist a little bit wider than the original wrap, in order to lock it on the place really well.
12. Once you finished, pull the velcro free and latch it on the place over your wrist.
