Full Meister Weighted Gloves Review

Comfort

The Meister Weighted Gloves strap on nicely and are pretty comfortable, although they are one-size-fits-all, which doesn’t leave many options for someone with larger hands.

I have a medium build, and these are pretty snug. It’s a bit of a plus too, so that the weighted part doesn’t slide around while you are moving. Nice thumb hole, and other than the weight you don’t really notice the gloves.

Other types of weighted gloves that I’ve used have an elastic effect when throwing punches, and the weighted part moves forward with the momentum and snaps back to your fist. With these gloves there is none of that awkward movement that could hyperextend your elbow; it just feels like you have really heavy hands when you’re wearing them.

Quality and Durability

I’ve had these for about a year and a half, and with moderate use they are still in great shape. The only signs of wear are near the thumb hole, but they are pretty insignificant. No frayed ends or loose stitching to be seen so far. Meister usually makes quality training gear, and these gloves are no exception.

Design

The 1lb of weight is from some sort of sand/beaded material that you can’t really feel unless you press deeply into the knuckle padding area. It’s distributed nicely and doesn’t interfere with your hand movement, so these would work well for any type of training. The wrist strap is secured with good velcro, and the finger loops and thumbhole keep the gloves in place.

These gloves are good for working on the double end bag or possibly speed bag, and would probably be okay for heavy bag work under a set of bag gloves. They are definitely not for sparring, but are great for shadow boxing.

Meister Weighted Workout Gloves Cost

Cost

These were about as cheap as you could find for this type of product, and I have no complaints with the cost to quality ratio. I have owned those aerobic workout style weighted gloves before, and these Meister gloves are much more balanced and comfortable for striking training.

Meister 1lb Weighted Workout Gloves

I picked these Meister Weighted gloves up about a year and a half ago for shadow boxing and hitting the double end bag, and to use when working on my footwork. They’re good for slower, controlled movement.

I purchased these Meister Weighted Gloves at full price. This did not influence the quality of the review, written after training a year and a half with them.
