Hayabusa Pro Boxing Shoe Review

For those of you who have been searching for a new pair of boxing shoes but haven’t quite been able to find the perfect fit yet, we have great news! Hayabusa is now a player in the footwear game with their newly released boxing shoe, the Hayabusa Pro Boxing Shoes.

In the roughly 16 years since its founding, Hayabusa (pronounced hi-ya-boo-sa) has become a reputable brand that specializes in both equipment and apparel items for MMA, Boxing, and general fitness. In this article, we will be reviewing the Hayabusa Pro Boxing shoes. As they are new to creating footwear, we will see how the new contender compares to veteran companies like Everlast, TITLE, and Venum in the space.

Hayabusa Pro Boxing Shoe Review

Founded in 2006 by Ken Clement, Craig Clement, David Zikakis, and Luke Harris, Hayabusa selected its name from the Japanese word for Peregrine Falcon. Much like the flight of the Peregrine Falcon, Hayabusa has rapidly ascended in the Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, and Boxing worlds with competitively priced products that are constructed with comfort, fit, feel performance, and safety at their core.

Hayabusa implements a research-based approach to the creation of its products. This approach allows them to use insights from the conceptualization, design, test, and manufacturing stages of product design to make superior products. As a company, their focus has traditionally been on being a leader in performance and protection in products such as gloves, rash guards, and fight shorts.

A martial artist has to continually be listening, training, and learning to improve their craft; this is a philosophy called Kaizen. It is with this same approach of Kaizen that Hayabusa has worked to continually improve their business.

When products like their new shoes reach the market, it is clear the work that went into them. This history and these methods have led to the creation of their new shoe. For this review, we will be focusing on the main categories you look for in footwear for the ring: Comfort, Durability, and Performance.

Comfort and Durability

Beginning with comfort, Hayabusa as a brand is known for excelling in this field and these shoes are no different. Constructed of a flexible rubber outsole and a microfiber leather and mesh build, these shoes form a snug fit without sacrificing any airflow and ventilation.

This allows the shoes to be useful for both trainings for long durations and short, high-intensity moments in the ring. The shoe has an “ergonomic drop” in the insole which maximizes comfort while keeping you firmly planted on the canvas.

Performance

In terms of performance, their lightweight design allows for precise, quick movements around the ring. In spite of this lightweight design, the grooved sole allows for almost immediately stops when a stable, anchored grip to the canvas is needed. This allows for quick pinpoint pivoting so that the fighter can maximize power transfer in their punch.

Finally, the shoes implement a mid-height build with long laces to make sure the shoes remain firmly on both the canvas and the fighter’s feet. This design highlights both performance and protection by allowing maximum mobility and agility in the shoe while also securing the ankle in place for protection.

These shoes come at the highest recommendation from us here at MMA Gear Addict as well as other early adopters who have already become devout Hayabusa followers who put their trust in their products. One note: some early purchasers of the shoe have noted that they may run roughly half a size larger compared to traditional footwear.

FAQS:

Is Hayabusa a good brand?

Yes, we believe so! While they are relatively new to the space compared to the long histories of TITLE and Everlast, they have accomplished phenomenal growth in the industry by creating dependable products at competitive prices. The investment in equipment that lasts is a worthy expense for anyone looking to grow in the sport.

Who owns Hayabusa?

Hayabusa is a privately owned company. The majority of owners are the same team that founded the company back in 2006: Ken Clement, Craig Clement, David Zikakis, and Luke Harris..

Why are Hayabusa boxing shoes so high?

The height of boxing shoes allows for both performance and protection. The height helps to hold the ankle in place through a range of rapid motions and direction changes that could otherwise injure it. This allows athletes to commit to high-intensity training and fights without worrying about sustaining an injury

Are Hayabusa Boxing Shoes worth it?

Although wearing boxing shoes is not essential during training or fights early on in the sport; they are highly recommended if you would like to improve your abilities. Footwork is a major part of the sport and investing in the proper equipment to facilitate training will always prove worth it.

Do you wear socks with Hayabusa Boxing Shoes?

When one watches a fight, you often see professionals wearing very little in the ring. While they can provide a level of increased support and protection to amateurs, they often inhibit many specialized options for unique strikes and movements. This means they usually are not used in the ring.
