The Gi that finally convinced me to pull the purchasing trigger on the Tatami Estilo 6.0 was to no one’s surprise the 5.0, and for very convincing reasons. Not only did the A2 size fit me after shrinkage like it would have been tailored for me. The jacket fits so well, and the pants just feel amazing whether you are dry or drenched in sweat. There is so much to this Gi that makes it special and are worth considering if you are in the market for a new or used Gi.
Design
My blue Estilo 5.0 comes with large Tatami-logos on each shoulder, the Estilo 5.0 logo on the left chest and printing in the neck area of the jacket. The pants are rocking the Tatami logo on the side and white stitching along the thighs and bottom of the jacket. The Gi during my possession has held its colour quite nicely, of course there will be some degree of fade and it is not as intensely blue as when I first bought it.
The Tatami logos in my opinion are too large and obvious in my opinion. Aesthetically thinking, this Gi would have benefited from downsizing the Tatami logos and keeping it just a tad cleaner looking. The white stitching does compensate for the glaring Tatami logos in terms of class. They provide the Gi with a tasteful touch of contrast instead of just keeping it intensely blue with silver logos, making it seem like you are announcing a sponsorship when you wear it.
Apart from aesthetics, a lot of thought from the Tatami team have gone in to this Gi. Let’s start with the Y-shaped vent on the side of the jacket. In my experience this provides you with a noticeably slimmer fit without compromising on mobility. Same goes with the pants, there is a vent shape right between your upper thighs, that provides the pants with a snug fit without hindering movement, this is a gigantic plus in my book.
Overall, the design of the Gi both functionally and aesthetically speaking is excellent with no remarks what so ever except for the Logos.

Size & Fit
Standing 5ft 11” and weighing in at a modest 160 lbs, the A2 fits me like a glove. My longer legs have plenty of room to move and this Gi has been approved for competition on multiple occasions without raising anybody’s eyebrows. As briefly mentioned above, the Gi gives you a snug fit but thanks to the Y-shaped vent and the pant design, you are free to move as you wish.
The pants run down your legs just fine without feeling like you have plastic bags around your ankles, and the sleeves are just perfect in terms of length and in diameter at the cuffs. In the case of the Estilo 5.0, I’m very glad that I went for the A2 because this Gi does shrink, and my only remark in terms of mobility is found when playing guard and reaching for collars.
When the Gi is dry, it does give a little bit of a sticky feeling on the mat. This issue is not to be found when sparring rounds start to get a bit more intense, and followingly sweatier. Despite the shrinkage, the Gi has been approved for all competitions I’ve attended. Both large and small. Its measurements are holding up and the shrinkage has seemed to stop after a good two weeks of washing. If you decide to buy this Gi, I’d like to hand you the same advice as with the review of the Athlete 3; Please tug on the arms when you wash it to avoid shrinkage!

Quality & Comfort
Looking past my remark on the limited mobility found around the shoulders, especially when reaching whilst playing guard; the Gi does not hinder you from moving in any other shape or form. And this issue is easily mitigated by taking the warm ups seriously and breaking a sweat prior to sparring. The material is comfortable, a Gi rash is nothing to worry about for either you or your opponent.
I’ve had this Gi since 2016 and I have used it effectively every week ever since. I’m actually surprised by how much wear and tear it can handle without showing any traces of it. The only thing I have noticed is that the bright, vibrant blue colour it came with has started to fade but only ever so slightly. Threading is 100% intact upon inspection, there are no tears and holes and I am fairly confident that it will stay this way for a good while.
Despite the jacket being 550 GSM, which might be slightly on the heavier side for some, it breathes very well. The vent-functions are working quite nicely, and the jacket does not feel heavy nor thick. Just durable and premium. I’ve rolled on multiple hot summer days without an issue with this Gi, and the pants. Oh boy, they move perfectly. These are probably my absolute favourite pair of Gi pants ever. It feels like having a pair of tights on you when you move!
Shrinkage
The most dreaded question of all – How much does the Gi shrink? Unfortunately, this Gi shrinks quite a bit. If you purchase this Gi, please tug the arms and legs when you’ve washed it to avoid excessive shrinkage. Fortunately for me, the shrinkage caused the Gi to go from normal to perfectly fitted when it shrunk. I would say a fair 10% of shrinkage is to be expected, so please consider this when purchasing the Gi, especially if you have longer limbs or if you are wider than average.

Estilo 5.0 Price point & Value
This Gi is slightly up there in price, but It is not Shoyoroll-expensive. I would say mid-upper range in terms of pricing and this Gi does deliver its promised value. You will not feel robbed when buying this Gi. It does not compromise on anything! It has a great fit, great durability and a fair price tag. You can’t go wrong with this one.
